New York City based producers/songwriters Benny Steele and Dayna Hollins own The Steele Factory, a three room recording studio and production house. The Steele Factory has recorded and mixed for countless musicians in many genres including; rock, jazz, pop, R&B, hip-hop, classical and voice-overs. The production team, Hollins Steele, produce artists in the pop, rock, hip hop and R&B genres.
The Steele Factory has worked with and recorded musicians including Q-Tip, Raphael Saadiq, Fergie, Meshell N'Degeocello, Roy Ayers, Dede Bridgewater, Amp Fiddler (George Clinton, Parliament/Funkadelic), Corey Glover of Living Colour, Chocolate Genius AKA Marc Anthony Thompson, Arturo O'Farrill (head of Latin Jazz at Lincoln Center), Marvin Sewell, Brandon Ross (Cassandra Wilson), Daniel Sadownick (Steeley Dan), Booker King (Santana, Kelis), Tomas Doncker (The Neville Brothers), Matt Beck (Matchbox 20, Rob Thomas), Ken Hellman (Sting) and John Deley (Dido) and jazz greats: Lincoln Goines, Robbie Ameen, Michael Cain, Gregoire Maret and Reuben Rodriguez. Dayna has appeared on David Letterman's Late Show singing with Fergie.
Hollins Steele is currently producing songs for several artists including an upcoming pop/rock album by singer/songwriter, David Joseph. They just completed production for a Christian/alternative/pop album by singer/songwriter Stevvi Alexander (Sheryl Crow, Gwen Stefani) and Tomas Doncker's newly released Pop/Soul album "Inside Out" and World/Soul album "Small World". They have also produced rock singer Colby Prior (opened for Gavin Degraw). Benny Steele mixed rapper Theorys Plan B: Theory is Everything (which had a track at #1 on Kiss FM 96.1) and he mixed the track "Change" for Theory, which just won Best Inspirational video on the BET Independent Music Awards. He has also co-written and produced tracks for rapper Hyphen-One.
Dayna Hollins and Benny Steele (Hollins Steele) completed a pop/rock album, Songs from Vanderbilt Avenue, which they wrote and produced (released 2005). Their work on Songs from Vanderbilt Avenue has earned them stellar 5 star reviews, a winning song in the Unisong International Songwriting Competition 2005 (Pop Performance category), multiple honorable mentions (Billboard, Unisong) and awards (2006 Kweevak "Music Project of the Year" Reader's Survey Winner). Hollins Steele was one of ten advanced songwriters selected for the ASCAP Extended Songwriter's Workshop in June 2006. Dayna and Benny have signed licensing deals with Red Bull Energy Drink for international advertising purposes and WACBIZ for film/tv song placements. They have recently formed the writing and production team, called Band Kamp 3.
They both attended New England Conservatory of Music in Boston where they received Bachelor of Music degrees. Benny attended NYU's graduate program in Music Technology and has since recorded countless full albums, demos and voice-overs. Benny is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.
